U14s Big Time at Big Boulder

An “Epic” day was had for our JFBB U14 race team as they hosted the second GS race of the season on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The Incline Lodge deck was hopping, as parents, friends, and family had a spectacular view of Big Boulder Slope. This is by far the best place to watch a ski race in our region!

The snow was perfect, according to the racers. It was fast, smooth, and not too icy. The skiers were treated to an exciting environment up at the top with former JFBB foundation president, Mitch K, counting them out. He had the music blaring and even took special requests from the racers to get them hyped up!

After Run 1, our JFBB racers made it clear that it was their home turf and no one was getting in their way. The girls had 5 of the top ten spots and 10 girls make the 30 flip.

Mackenzie led the pack of girls with a 1st pace run in 33:46 seconds, followed by Vera (4th), Lizzie (5th) Holly (6th), Gabby B (9th) and Sophia (12th), Erin(22nd), first time flipper – Olivia (27th), Reagan(28th), and another first-time flipper, Zoe (29th).

The boys had an equally exciting first run with 6 boys in the top 10, and 10 in the 30 flip. AJ continued to show his GS dominance this season with a first place run clocking in at 31: 56 followed closely by David (2nd), Seiji (4th), Noah (5th), Jack (7th), Lucca (9th) and Will (13th), Evan N (17th), Emraan (23rd), Devin (24th).

Run two was a faster set with a through gate placed at the top of the head wall. Mackenzie secured her second GS win of the season with a 31.29. Vera jumped up to the 3rd place spot and Gabby had an impressive 3rd place second run that bumped her up to 5th place overall. Lizzie (6th), Holly (9th), Sophia (12th), Erin (20th), Reagan (23rd), Olivia (25th), Zoe (29th) made up the top 30 girls for JFBB.

The boys secured the top three podium spots as AJ and David remained in first and second and Seiji bumped up to 3rd place. AJ clocked the fastest run of the day at 29.63 to secure his second GS win of the season. The top 30 consisted of 7 more JFBB boys, Noah (6th), Jack (8th), Lucca (10th), Will (13th), Evan (15th), Emraan (18th), Devin (20th).

Special shout outs to all of our parent volunteers for helping to make this race possible, especially Jessica Burman, with the help of Michelle Wilson, for taking on the RA role. The amount of time and details is extensive, and her efforts should be applauded.
