Nothing Blue about Blue! – U12/U10s

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the JFBB U10’s and U12’s travelled to Blue Mountain for the last regular season race.  The JFBB team was all smiles and of course all glittered up! 

The cheering section came in full force with cowbells raging, everyone was excited for the Peter Turko Memorial GS race.  Each participant received a commemorative t-shirt honoring the event.  

First up, the girls! After the first run, JFBB’s Mackenzie J clocked in 52.27 for a 1st place run, but a dnf in run two kept her off the podium. Gabby B (8th), Josetta (10th), Cassidy (12th), Reaghan (20th), Kylie (27th), Erin (28th) all made the flip showing the region that JFBB girls are fierce! 

After the second run the final results landed Gabby B in 12th, Cassidy 13th, Josetta 15th, Riley P jumped up 14 spots due to a stellar 5th place second run.  She ended the day in 18th.  Erin S and Kylie G rounded out the top 30 with 24th and 29th respectively!  

The u10 girls also had a great day! Marilla P continues to impress and just missed the podium. She had a strong 4th place finish. Other top finishers:

  • Kenzie B 11th
  • Estelle 13th
  • Samantha G 14th
  • Piper D 16th

These amazing results helped the JFBB girls secure 7 of the 11 spots from the Eastern Region team for States. Mackenzie, Riley, Josetta, Reaghan, Gabby B, Cassidy, and Erin qualified and will race at u12 PA State championships, aka Derbies! 

Now onto the boys, led by Jack Daulton who finished 2nd after the first run with a time of 52.55.  Securing their spot in the flip was Kellan (10th) Noah (12th) Julian Q (16th), Emraan(17th), Sawyer D (22nd), Elliot (23rd) James D(30th).  

Jack continued to show his speed in the second run and landed on the podium in 2nd place against a fast Whitetail racer. Rounding out the top 30 for u12 boys was Noah (13th) Kellan (15th) Emraan(16th) Sawyer (19) Elliot (21st). 

The u10 boys had an excellent showing with Julien Q securing a spot on the podium in 2nd place.  Other top finishes: 

  • Kayus A 5th 
  • James D 9th
  • Kaydin 12th

The u12 boys secured 3 of the 11 spots for State Championships.  Jack, Noah, and Kellan will continue on and race at Derbies, which we be held at Round Top Mountain.
